Here’s what we found as of about noon on June 16, 2020. Then we did the same with the numbers around 322.

We ran a Google News search using the terms "322 cases" AND COVID, to find online references to where "322 cases" appeared as a unit on a page that also referenced COVID. Beyond that, there are nearly 20,000 incorporated places (primarily cities, towns, villages, boroughs), about 3,000 of which have at least 10,000 people.Īdd that to the 50 states and, well, the entire rest of the world, and you’ve got a lot of places tallying COVID data that could potentially add up to 322.īut in case you’re somehow not convinced yet, we’ll follow the advice of one poster and Google this. "How is it that an additional 322 cases of Covid have been reported in Massachusetts, South Korea, Philippines, Mississippi, Wisconsin, Equador, Thailand, Oklahoma, China, Colorado, Armenia, Oman (Middle East), Onondaga (NY), Kerala (India), Simerset (NJ), Kentucky, Wyoming, Borders (UK), Amritsar (India), Thane (India), Camden County (NJ), Iraq, Khaleej (Dubai), and Dakota County (Nebraska)!"Īcross the nation you’ll find more than 3,000 counties. "Google 322 Covid! Why is 322 a magic number!?!" screamed another post from the same day. "Nothing to see here except synchronized cases all over the world," said one post from June 15, 2020. In a social media landscape rife with claims about manufactured COVID case and death tallies, and conspiracies related to vaccines, 5G cell towers and whatever else, the clear implication is there’s something nefarious going on. Turns out, many also can’t resist one that’s exceptionally easy to disprove.Īn array of Facebook posts recently surfaced singling out the number 322 and a purported connection to COVID-19. Whether the decline of Deer Island is a sign of Skull & Bones’ dwindling fortunes and influence or just a cleverly leaked program of disinformation to make the organization seem more innocuous is, like much of the group, a mystery. Some people can’t resist a good conspiracy. Even the Bonesmen themselves, usually reticent to speak about their secrets admit to the island being a disappointment, stating, “It’s a dump, but it’s beautiful.” Unverifiable stories have surfaced telling of wild parties where the Bonesmen engage in all manner of sin, but these are tempered by leaked Facebook photos of normal-seeming college kids, getting normal-level college drunk in the dated confines of a Catskills lodge. There are at least three ruins on the island, each of a burnt down cottage, and seemingly the only structure still standing is one wooden cottage on the water. While details of the trip are scarce due to the tight-lipped Bonesmen, each new initiate is made to visit the island as part of their long introduction ceremony. The 50-acre island was given to the organization around 1949 and has continued to serve as its private retreat ever since. However, all accounts of the privately-owned Deer Island make the group seem like just another college frat. Given the wealth and power associated with the group, it would be safe to assume that their private island would be an opulent pleasure palace where the fate of the world is decided over drinks and debauchery. Given their grim image, powerful membership, and secretive, ritualistic initiation ceremonies, countless conspiracy theories have arisen claiming that the organization is part of a shadowy global illuminati, or in control of the CIA, or simply grooming the secretly chosen leaders of the world. The Skull & Bones society is a supposedly elite student group that has included such high profile members as both Presidents Bush, the co-founder of Morgan Stanley, and a bevy of senators and CEOs. While it comes as no surprise that Yale’s secretive Skull & Bones society has a not-so-secret private island in upstate New York, however it’s shocking to discover that Deer Island is just a rundown hangout for drunk college kids.
